Microfluidic Transport

Advalytix provides researchers with a turnkey solution for the exploration of novel fluid handling technology based on surface acoustic waves.

The SAW fluidic controller is a versatile platform that can be easily adapted to a wide range of applications in biology, chemistry, physics or material science. The fluidic controller provides an intuitive joystick interface that controls up to eight transducers. This ensures that it takes only minutes for a new user to learn how to manipulate liquid volumes ranging from picoliters to microliters on the surface of Advalytix fluidic chips. The chip layout can be highly customised to provide fluidic pathways and reaction geometries that match your experiment. The unique 'flat fluidics' concept is easily integrated into existing fluid handling systems such as pipetting robots. The chip substrate is transparent and autofluorescence free lending itself to a wide variety of optical detection methods.

Further to this, a thermal cycle controller can be added, since SAW fluidics chips are available with integrated heaters and thermo-sensors. The thermal cycle controller adds the capability of performing on-chip temperature-dependent reactions. Together with the SAW fluid handling technology the system provides a robust platform for sub-microliter thermal protocols. The on-chip thermal protocol can be performed with heating rates up to 50°C/s. In addition, the advanced temperature control software speeds up protocol optimisation.
