The 1st Workshop on single cell qPCR was held successfully on 08 - 10 December 2008 at BioEPS/ TATAA Biocenter Germany in Freising, Germany, initiated by BioEPS and the Advalytix product team of Olympus. This 3-day workshop provided a comprehensive overview of single-cell and qPCR technology, starting from cell selection to final qPCR analysis with the main focus on:

- Single cell and qPCR theory and applications
- Sampling and cultivation technologies
- Primer / probe design and assay optimization
- Nucleic acid extraction and RT strategies
- Data analysis, normalization and quantification strategies
- Future perspectives in single-cell and multiplex analysis

The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange new ideas and technology along with the discussions on professional research trends in the area of single-cell and qPCR technology and are planed to be held regularly in the future.
